2005 ML500 - Which Mobil 1?

Mileage is nearing 60,000 km (37,500 miles), and so far the oil used was Fuchs Titan GT1 PRO C-3 5w30 Synthetic with a 10,000 km (6,250 mile) OCI. I'm leaning more towards Mobil 1 0W-40, but the other two choices are 5w30 ESP and 15W-50 EP.

Choice of filter was an OEM Mercedes-Benz, but thinking of switching to a WIX 51226 at the next OCI, unless the OEM is a better option. Thank you.

Who makes the OEM filter?
Mann-Hummel, Mahle-Knecht, Hengst?
Look for a filter at http://www.autohausaz.com or your local euro parts haus. It should be cheaper and the same part.

I'd even bet that Fuchs oil is better than M1
You're in Kuwait? Might want to think about a 5W-40 for those +100*F summers. Maybe look for european Castrol Edge instead of M1?

Falcon_LS - addyguy and Johnny made the correct recommendation for your car and all I can do is to endorse it

Mobil 1 0W-40 was used in the development phase of the engine and it is one of the very best lubricants money can buy - and with an excellent track record. Use it with confidence at the highest ambient temperatures you are likely to encounter

For other Posters - the question was "Which Mobil 1?" - not which Brand of lubricant!

Thank you for the replies. I was leaning towards 0W-40, mainly because the other two do not meet the MB229.5 specification. That said, all Mobil 1 products sold here are made in France, with the so-called "European Formula".

Thank you for the link! I reckon Mann-Hummel makes the OEM filters for Mercedes-Benz, although I will need to do some research to confirm. Castrol Edge 5W-40 is also available, for cheaper. But the vehicle has an extended warranty, provided it is maintained by the authorised dealer, and their only choices are Fuchs Titan (conventional and synthetic) and Mobil 1.
