Going to need new tires on the Grand Cherokee soon, I like a somooth , quite ride really not much off road. What to use at a reasonable price?

My Firestone Destination tire's sidewall cracked before they were 2 years old.

Try Michelin's Latitude Tour for comfort or LTX M/S2. You can't go wrong with either.

Anything from Nokian.

For the somewhat cheaper options, Try some of Generals SUV tires, Like the Grabber.

I've had Destination LE's on my 2001 Jeep since November 2007.....no cracks yet. Judging by the wear they should be good for around 50,000 miles.

Another for the Destination LE's. Have had them on 2 full size 4WD trucks and an AWD SUV and they are excellent tires IMO. No cracking issues for me. 1st I have ever heard of that issue with that tire line.

Smooth ride
Quiet
Excellent tread wear
Amazing bad weather performance( snow and ice )
Very affordable

Plenty of Destination LE supporters on this board, I am not one of them. Poor treadlife and bad performance on hardpack snow and ice. Excellent dry and rain traction, I'll give them that. Current set on my explorer is likely to be done by 40,000 miles. Last two sets of tires covered 134,000 miles combined, so driving style is not the issue. Also check tirerack or other sources for reviews. High marks in some areas, not so much in others.

The Micehlin lineup, while pricey, will net you good results. After that, I'd likely look at a General Grabber tire.

I assume in Kentucky you see no snow? I'd go with the General Grabbers if that's the case. The Destinations and LTX's have a more aggressive tread pattern (and louder harsher ride) than I would assume you need.

For my 2002 F-150 supercab longbed I purchased the NEW BFG Long Trail T/A Tour's. They replaced Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. In all honesty to me this winter the BFG's behaved the same in snow & ice as the Bridgestone's did. But the ride is sooo much more comfortable. The grip in wet and dry is great, better the Bridgestone's.

I don't go off road anymore so I'm interested in a good dry/wet/snow/street/mild trail tire. These fit the bill and they were a good price.

I had destination LEs on my 93 GC. excellent tire. sturdy sidewall which you want on that taller rubber. good treadwear, quiet, smooth, balanced out great. Saw light off road use and was fine there too.

I would have bought them again for my 08 GC, but it' 2WD and since it does see mud/dirt I wanted something more aggressive. lost 2 mpg with the revo's (bridgestone). the bridgestone turanza or 400 or whatever it's called would also be a good tire, but the LE is basically yesteryear's turanza/400 and is similar bang for less buck.

Great dry, wet, cornering, and quiet.
