Well, I made the normal break in changes on my "new" 2005 Dodge Neon which included a change at 1500+ miles then 3000+ and at 5000+ I put synthetic in her.

I read that 5w30 Synthetic is like a "heavy" 5w20 conventional. I put 5w30 in the car and it got 28mpg (avg was 35mpg), so I dumped the 5w30 and put the 5/20 Castrol Syntec (5 qt n/a in the 5/20 at Walmart) and I got 37mpg on a tank then 36.2mpg on last tank. I did not forget to write down miles as I use the trip meter and reset it after checking mileage. Change oil every 5,000 miles.

Interesting that much of a difference. Didn't drive it differenly, bought the car as a kid run-arounder and it was cheap (local dealers had them on sale for $10,900 brand new, bought it April 30) and our '95 Aerostar had lots'o miles on it and got 20mpg and our Yukon gets 16mpg avg, not cheap on gas and 5 kids scattering all over the county for various reasons was a good idea to get the car.

Where is the best place to get a used oil analysis kit? I have a Schucks, Napa, Carquest and Litterel Auto in my area. Never did a used oil analysis in a car, would be interested in seeing how the little car is doing. Want it to last a long time or at least a lot of miles as we pack miles on it.

TIA
Aaron
