02 dodge neon, 2.0 4 cylinder, 130,000 miles. thinking of going with a Napa silver filter and Pennzoil high mileage 5W30 for a 3.5-4k oci. is this is a good combo or should i go with some cheap supertech 5W30 synthetic? my only fear is that it would start burning the synthetic. car isnt an oil burner as far as i know.

Nothing wrong with that setup, why not a Napa Gold filter? A lot of value! A 5k OCI wouldn't be out of the question either.

Why would it burn a synthetic? Unless the engine is sludged, it shouldn't consume any synthetic oils.

These Neon engines are so gentle on oil, there is no need for high mileage or synthetic.

Also, you can easily extend that oci out to 5k. I had a 1995 that I sold with 182k on it, still running strong!

+1

Yes, those 2.0L are solid engines. I use my 96' as a daily driver...average about 34mpg, 172k. I use the Napa Platinum filter and would recommend it to you for your Neon. Also the Royal Purple and Bosch D+ are also my favorites for this engine.
