this is my wife's 2003 toyota tacoma 4x4 2.7L 4cyl. she does alot of short around town trips
the first sample was w/ amsoil series 2000 0w30
the second was amsoil series 3000 hdd 5w30 both w/ amsoil sdf57 filter and amsoil air filter this truck gets 21-25 mpg. asmoil flagged the maganese as odd in the first sample, i'm pretty sure it's from amsoil series 2000 octane boost which i used a couple of bottles in the first and didn't use any in the second interval. i use amsoil pi every few tank fulls. the 0w30 was in place for the entire winter and it was a cold one for eastern massachusetts.

any thoughts/input is much appreciated
i'm surprised at the HDD 5w30's tbn of only 3.6 can anyone explain this?

blackstone also flagged the copper in the second sample. does the HDD 5w30 have any copper in it?

Blackstone TBN of 3.6 is fine. Add at least 2-3 points to compare to OAI.

I wouldn't worry about the Mn. No Cu in Amsoil, but Toyota's can throw some Cu. 12ppm in 8K miles is not a concern either. Fe is down. All in all a decent report - looks like HDD is a better fit.

Nice report. Pretty boring though-which is good

TBN has a lot of life in it yet. You have a long ways to go to get to a TBN in the 1's .

I can say this, that I have seen these trucks go on a regular basis over 300K - this is where most of my co-workers start to get rid of theirs... and they don't do any testing. They have two methods. SYN and change every 5-7-10K or Dino and change every 3K... I hope the new version proves to be a little better on FUEL and the rest of the truck...

I would stick with the 5w30 oil this engine seems to like it. The silicone is a little higher than I would like to see, but its ok. I would stick with 6 month, 7500 changes. How much PI are you using every couple of tankfulls? This may be causing you a problem with copper, etc..Overall its a decent report.

How are you getting 21-25? My highest has been around 20.5 MPG.

Thanks for the report!
