Hey guys
I am tring to see how far this stuff will go with my Dual Remote Bypass filter setup and Amsoil's best. When looking at the report I changed my oil at 6K, 18K, 22K and 24K. My 25K and 32K the oil was not changed and is still in the pan (34K now). My only concern is the rising sodium (my silicon is alway higher then normal). I already replaced the intake gaskets @80K for this very problem. (potassium - 68, Sodium 35, Silicon - 19) this time it seems different though as Potassium has not risen.

one note: the 2qt make-up comes a Eao26 filter change after 25K UOA.

What do you think? change it now or just take it to 40K? Thanks for your help.

Yeah it looks like you have a slight coolant ingress - you even tell by the slight change (up) in viscosity. Your choice if you want to attack the leak with 208K on the clock, because it certainly did not add to wear metals.

Anyway otherwise a great UOA. I'm sure some will find something to pick on, because they can't bag on you for wear metals, oil consumption.....maybe just don't expect a ton of response!

I think it looks great. You said you changed the EaO 26 at 25K, is that the regular spin on filter or the bypass filter? I would say you got your monies worth out of that oil for sure.

Because you have dual remote Bypass filter, I would not change the engine filter Eao26 at 25k miles. With wear metals this low and TBN of 3.2, I would go all the way to 40k miles then change all filters (oil+bypass+air) and use the same SSO 0W-30.

The EaO26 is a mega-sized FL1A type filter. Like a 51776 WIX. Typically referred to as a two quart filter.

What did it cost you to replace the 2 qts of oil and filter at 25K? Your engine went the first in this OC 25K without adding any oil?

That is one impressive report!

In answer to your question the 2 qts of oil and the filter probably cost as much as many of us pay for an oil change, if not more.

LOL Still Impressive, there is a lot to be said about bi-pass filtration.

So how many miles are on the oil?

I thought the same thing, but the report says OIL IN USE 32,796 miles. Yet reading the text you could think it was changed at 6K, 18K, 22K, and 24K, etc.

My comment was bassd on oil in use for 32,796 miles.

2 qts of oil were added at 25K with the filter change. How much did that cost? Also I find it hard to believe a 4.3 GM engine would not use some oil in the first 25K.

So what brand of engine would not use some oil? (hint all engines HAVE to use some oil)

Also read and see the 2 quarts of oil used was for filter maintenance.

Bill

PS: Its sad to see the bias....

It was. (Look at total mileage on the vehicle) He had a OCI of 6k then changed the oil. UOA looked good so he went 18k and so on.

This time the oil in the sump has 34k on it now.

The make up oil was for maintenance for the filter setup (well most of it)

Or at least that is how I'm reading the thread.

Great report. Thanks for sharing.

It's nice to see how well SSO holds up. I'm surprised more people don't use bypass filtration, knowing how well it works.

I think it depends on the engine on how well it works. Also SPACE under the hood.

Impressive to say the least.

Almost every bypass filter UOA report looks good. I guess there is more to filtration than I had thought. Plus, he is using one of the best oils on the market for this.

And just think harryj is changing SSO out ever 4k miles. What a joke!

My thought exactly. Reading through tons of filter threads and seeing comments like filters really aren't that important makes you think. A bi-pass set up seems to put that myth to rest.

You have the biass. His engine is a GM. we are talking about his engine, not anyone elses. Everyone knows all engines use some oil, especially in 25K. Also re read my comment. I stated the 2 qt at 25K filter change. I ask how much oil used in the first 25K. Typically GM engines will use some oil in that long of run.

So Fords do not? How about Chrysler motors? Blanket statement/mindsets do not have much value.

He said the 2 quarts was for oil filter changes. Just because he has a GM you come and make the comment "because GM motors use oil for this length of OCI". How many 25k OCIs do we have PERIOD here?

PLEASE do not say I have "bias". FAR from it. I don't only hang around people who drive fords and use only Mobil 1 like you do (or your comments indicate this)

Your statement above in red indicates YOUR bias. Thank you!

Bill
