ASL is clearly one of the best oils out there especially for this engine. If I get a Vette, I'm either using ASL, Mobil 1 R, S2k or D1. However, by the time I get one, these oils will be obsolete along with the LS1.

2004 is the last year of the LS1 actually, in this form anyways. The base engine in the 2005 Corvette is going to be the LS2, which is going to have about 400hp (the LS1 makes 350hp) But the LS2 is not a major redesign though, more of a tweaked LS1 really. Hopefully they fixed the piston slap/oil consumption issues which plague many LS1 engines.

By the time I get a C5 (which will probably be in late 2006 to early 2007) there will be a lot of changes to the oils which currently work very well in the LS1. So I honestly have no idea what I will run, although I am confident Amsoil will be at or near the top of my list.

Amsoil will always be at the top IMO. They simply buy the best and make the best. they are always giving us what the other guys won't. They have slipped though according to many.

I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the lead number is not as good as last year,

Patman, it's probably bc he drove it harder this time around, something you have to consider.

Yep, it is possibly that, or possibly the addition of the carbon cleaner too. Either way, 3ppm of lead in almost 6k is truly a great number!
