I have read the prior posts on the G-05 and am thinking of changing over from the green stuff as soon as my warranty is up (about 5000 miles). My questions are: are the new F150s coming factory filled with G-05? If so, is there anything remotely different in the cooling system that would make G-05 bad for a 2001? I understand they have not given a thumbs up on changing out green and putting in G-05, but that they may in the future? With the multiple coolants being in different vehicles by Ford it is hard to figure out what is going on besides a lot of CYA.

GO5 meets Ford spec WSS-M97B51-A1. All I can tell you is that when I asked Valvoline tech support, they told me in an email that GO5 is backward compatible with older versions of Ford coolant spec's, but Ford won't go that far yet. They are still evaluating.

Go ahead with confidence and use the G-05 antifreeze after warranty. I suspect the reason Ford doesn't use it across the board in their vehicles is because of (their) economy. They'll use the cheapest stuff. If you get corrosion in the system after 7 years or 90K, they'll just shrug their shoulders and say "oh well". Go ahead and use the premium stuff if you plan on keeping your vehicle a long time.
What ever you choose, make sure to test the PH with regularity, or change the coolant regularly and often. Ford F150 heater cores are aluminum and corrode quickly. I just changed mine, a 4 day job.

I have access to a good pH meter. What should the pH be, and if possible, can you cite the reference?
