I hope you mean 200k miles... I've got a 95 SOHC with 184,000km, and have been putting some money into it too. Basically its investing in the car you know, as I can buy another 95-98 Neon for $2-2.5k, but does it have a relatively new timing belt, water pump, headgasket, tensioner? If it does, who did the work? What's the car history, etc...
So for someone to criticize Chris for putting $1400 into a $8500 car means they haven't done the math. What else is he going to do to have rock solid transportation? Buy a new car?, or buy one that's 2 year old? Either option makes $1400 look pretty cheap.
