2000 ml55 steering hard to turn at low speed

2000 mecredes ml55 amg (102000)

I have done the research on the steering wheel becoming hard to turn at low speed or get lock-up. I can't find Speed-Variable Power Valve sensor part online. The only thing I find is the steering speed sensor which is look like this for this ml55.

I did looked at the oem mecredes page and can't find nothing that called steering speed sensor.

Can someone please help me out finding the right parts.

You'll probably get a better response on mbworld or benzworld.

Standard answer is to try looking it up in EPC, but it's not easy. Do you have the EPC/WIS knock off DVD? It's about $6.50 on eBay...

Id look into the pump before chasing those parts down, I dont think either is correct for the w163 you have.When was the last fluid change? Has it been run low ever? A scan tool should be able to get you a pressure reading. Rack or pump would be much more common. Most times the sensors mounted on the rack cannot be changed either.
EDIT: As a simple test, raise the idle in park to about 1200 and see if its easier to turn the wheels than at idle. If not try a little higher. If its easier, the pump is shot, usually.

If the steering column has a U joint in it , it may be bound up if the car sat for any length of time. The test is a spritz PB Blaster, etc for a temp fix.. Just a wild guess

No fluid has never been changed. According to this site sensor can be change. But I can't find that parts or whatever it call.

You mean EPC? I just tried the link and it's still working. But you could just search on ebay for Mercedes WIS and it should come up. EPC is usually part of it. The WIS is the workshop information system which is basically the repair manuals the dealers use. EPC is how they figure out which parts to use for your car once you punch in the vin number. I have an older version and it's not easy to use so I keep it to a minimum, takes a while to figure it out.
