I'm going to do a change on 2000 Civic and was wondering if anybody had any negative opinions about running 5w20 in it? I know it was originally spec'd for 5w30 but Honda now says that 5w20 is "acceptable".

I'm going to use the new NG Maxlife and wanted to buy all 5w20 (Sale at AAP) since the cars I care for all use this grade. It has about 80k on it now and usually do 5 month OCI with it since it's lucky to see 3k miles during that interval. As far as I can tell it doesn't burn any oil and has no noticeable leaks.

Thanks guys.

YES you will be fine with 5w20, as I am using Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 in my 03' Civic. My 03' says 5w20 so I use 5w20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability OR Quaker State Conventional in summer, Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 in winter.
