I have a 2000 E-250 van with the 5.4L triton in it with almost 150k on it that I use everyday for my plumbing business. The van is packed with tools an material so it's pretty loaded down I wanna say 6300lbs with me in. I drive the van normal I don't beat it however if I gotta get somewhere pretty quick I def don't baby it an my buddy is a die hard castrol edge w/syntec 0w-30 user an uses it for all of his cars an drives each one of em hard all the time an says that this oil works wonders? I usually use Mobil 1 5w-20 synthetic every oil change every 3000 miles but I just bought this castrol to try out. Will this oil work better in my van than wat I'm currently using an make if run better? I was also thinking of switching to motorcraft oil as well, what oil should I use an why is it better than wat I'm currently using?

The 5w20 is the correct oil for your engine and should easily last 10,000 miles between changes, 3,000 miles changes are perpetuated by oil change shops.

Edge 5w30 is good oil, albeit slightly thicker than necessary for your engine if you already have it use it but switch back to synthetic 5w20 after that and work on extending your changes. 3,000 miles on Mobil 1 is just getting started.

Your owners manual probably tells you to go 5,000 between changes, newer fords go 7,500. Good way to reduce overhead for your business.

The oil choice really doesn't matter as long as it's the right grade. Ford says 5w30 is ok for vehicles over 14,000 GVWR. You're not there.

Stick with a Motorcraft filter though. The FL820S is one of the best. At $4 or less, it's a bargain.

Also these longer specified oil changes by Ford are for Motorcraft syn blend, while Mobil 1 has a longer service life making 10k changes easy, especially for someone who probably puts miles on fast.
