I've noticed that on my Dodge Caravan the oil pan gasekt is very easty get to. Do any of you know if this is a simple job? If I decide to have a mechanic do this, is it ver expensive? I would imagine the gasket costs 5-10 dollars, but anyone know how long of a job it would be time wise?

Guess it depends on the engine. On my wife's Caravan with the 3.8L V6, it appears that removing the oil pan has some entanglements with the front cover and possibly with the transmission housing. I noticed that when I had the front cover gasket replaced, they also replaced the oil pan gasket. My guess, it's a 1-2 hour job. You could ask the mechanic how many hours he's charging. He probably spends 1/2 that doing the work. But, it be a good gauge for some one you hasn't done it before.

You might consider getting yourself an AllData account; it's $25 a year and could probably answer that question. And if you have yourself a good printer, you may not need to renew the subscription.
