At Work today a guy wanted a Fram oil filter for his eninge in his Air Boat...

It had a 1973 500 HP V8 Cadilac engine in it.

I looked up the Filter for is car and there was only 1 and it was in stock but in the back...

The guy gets the box and says didn't fram come out with Sure grip like 10 years ago also the filter and RUST all over it.

I look at the filter and it say Allied Signal on it and what I found strange was

THE BYPASS was at the TOP of the oil filter like Motorcraft..

most fram or all frams extra guards have by pass at the bottom

Look at the pics

perhaps this filter is older then 15 years... I know sure Grip has been around at least 10 years.... and Allied Signal has not owned Fram probably over 20 years.

Also the filter seemed to be very heavy...

Also all the other FRAM PH8A had the bypass at the bottom... I could not find any
FRAM PH8 with the bypass at the top like this one.

Perhaps a old RELIC

How old you think that filter is??????????

Did you notice what I said the pics?

I am sure there are collectors that would buy it. Just clean off the rust, and give a good oiling, and put it on Ebay.

Were you able to see a date code on the can?

Filters older than a certain number of years are supposed to be sent back to the manufacturer.

Bendix Corp 1973-1985,Allied-Signal was 1986-1993,Allied Signal was 93-99,Honeywell 99-up

I have a Ph13 that looks like this one. Pretty sure I bought it 32 years ago. I may cut it because I cannot bring myself to put it on anything.
