There was a change in the manual between my '05 and '08 MINI Cooper convertible as far as the OCI goes. It used to say one year if you didn't travel many miles, now it says 2 years between services if you go less than 6,000 miles. I fall into that as I don't go over 1,000 miles a year any more.

So should I wait that extra year to change the BMW LL-01 specced oil I use?

I take short trips up to the rare hour long highway trip.

I did. Im not worried. ive been doing two year OCIs with >6000 miles for years with great used oil analysis and no issues.

I'm doing 5 years on my 92 Suburban - I'll do a used oil analysis in August when I finally change it.

I did a few 2 year oci's in my van w/o issue. Now since the driving conditions changed a bit now I'll go a year to eighteen months, basing the OCI on miles not time.

I'm faced with a similar situation with my G35. I drive it once a week, which equates to about 2K a year. I was doing one-year OCI's, but this year I was planning on going 18 months. Should I go 2 years 4K miles? I run the combo in my signature.

Keep in mind, the automakers are probably being pushed by the liberals about the environment, so their recommendation could be based on what's not necessarily good for your engine.
