Is there any benefit with adding 2-cycle oil to fuel being used on a 4-cycle sm engine?

I was thinking the same. Would a 50:1 ratio be ok?

No, 50:1 is way to high. Most folks I have seen on here that add 2 cycle oil use a 250:1 ratio. That is roughly one ounce per every 2 gallons of gas.

50 to 1 is the ration I use for my 2-stroke weed whacker with Red Line 2-stroke racing oil. It's 13 years old and does duty on an acre of back yard and runs great.

I mix 2-cycle oil into my 4-cycle gas at a ratio of 100:1 or slightly higher. The fuel pours clear and the engines (mine are two Hondas) run great. I pour one 2.6 oz. bottle of Echo Power Blend into a 2.5 gallon container of fuel and go fill 'er up. 2.6 oz to 2 gallons would be 100:1, but I usually get a little more gas than that, so it's probably on the order of 110:1 or 120:1.

500-1000:1 IMO. Less is more with adds.

1 ounce for every 5 gallons of gas is how I've been mixing it. Maybe slightly more.

what is the best 50-1 oil for this

Hitachi 21 cc Straight Shaft Trimmer , CG22EASSLP

have seen many 50-1 oils on the store but which should i choose to get the best performance and protection: these are the options i have available at the stores

* Oregon 50-1
* Lucas 50-1 - 2 cycle semi synthetic smokeless oil
* Red Armour 50-1 oil

so which of this is the best or are there other that i should use for my trimmer : / ? thanks in advanced

Don't do it. What do you hope to gain? Certainly will not add to the life of your OPE and may impede the performance somewhat.

also forgot to include also have available: Explorer 2 cycle oil ( that is the one they had at Sears ) and also have the option of Echo 2 cycle oil from Home depot , so which should i buy ? ( this last 2 are more far away to [purchase from my location : ( , but the others stated before are more near : )
