Hey guys, bought a Honda for the first time. 2007 Accord 2.4L with about 40k miles. I've never worked on a Honda before.. so just a few Q's. What is a good factory sized/application filter? Are there a oversized #? I picked up a Napa Gold (Wix) today for my intial oil change. Napa # 1356. Wondering if Honda puts their bypass in the block, or in the filter like Toyota.

Purolator PL14610. $2.75 each on Amazon after rebate.
The Napa 1334 is slightly larger (wider), but according to their website it doesn't offer as fine of filtration in terms of their beta ratios. The Napa 1356 is a great filter, I would go with that without hesitation. Did you get a Napa Gold or one of their less expensive lines? Good luck with the new Honda!
Bypass is in the filter. Here are some filters that I've used in my Civic when I had it. They work with almost all Hondas.
Supertech 7317, Purolator (P)L14610, Bosch 3323
Advanced Auto (discontinued) 3593a, STP s2808, Purolator(P)L14459
Purolator L24458 (discontinued but you can find it in Sears' auto section sometimes. This one is an oversized filter)
If you see any of the numbers up top by a different brand, it will probably work too.

So there is no majic filter for the Hondas like in Toyota world. Ok. Recon I'll use the Napa Gold (wix) I got. Looks like a pretty decent sized factory filter vs like a Corollas mini me filter. How are the factory Honda filters, any good?

I never noticed my car being fussy about filters. The A01 Honda filter is made Filtech a branch of Toyo Roki (maker of S2000 filter) and are highly regarded. They were discontinued here a couple years back but there was a thread a few weeks back that said they are being sold again, but I'm not sure about the accuracy of that. The A02 is made by Honeywell the mother company of Fram and it isn't great.

So looks like the bigger question is Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 or 5w20.

I always liked the look of the Honda filter. The blue is nice and all the words on it make it seem serious.

Can't go wrong with the Wix 1356 or the Honda A01. Flip a coin, they're both excellent filters.

I use the puralator L series or pure one on my CRV , since oem are fram and I cannot find the A01 easily.
Stupid Question. Where is the oil filter located on the 2.4L? On the back side of the engine? I can't seem to find it by casually looking from the top.
And yeah I'll probly be going wix or A01. Take another look at that A01. Wix is just a HD, tank of a filter. Freakin bullet proof in the reliability dept.

Yup, its in the back but facing down its only accesable in thru the bottom
