Again, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH CONTAMINATED OIL DRAINING OUT OF THE FILTER.

..and for a price, you can have YOUR patent state whatever you think the purpose is of any device you create.

Yeah, right ... the ADBV has nothing to do with preventing oil from draining out of the filter. Guess they better change the name of the device then.

If it has nothing to do with preventing back flow of oil, then please explain what it's there for.
 
The "contaminated" part, my friend. It's just oil ..just as contaminated or clean as it was when it entered the filter. Who would care if it drained back due to "being dirty"?? Only someone who can't figure out that it is probably 99.99999999999% as clean as it was on the other side of the filter ..like the original kzine (or whatever that family's name is) guy seemed to think was important.

The valve is there to inhibit drain back. It doesn't care what condition the oil is in.

Isn't that exactly what I'm saying? ... it's there to help prevent (ie, "inhibit") the filter from draining (ie, "drain back") - and having an empty filter upon startup. Fishing expedition again?

Go back and re-read what I've said all along.

If the oil condition or "dirtiness" isn't a concern, then why are you saying "the primary purpose is to keep the media from being back flushed" .... you meaning the purpose is to prevent back flushing of contamination from the media and out the filter.

ADBV's are ALLOWED to leak. They only need to delay or slow the back wash action.

inhibit = (does not equal) prohibit. You're getting into your episode zone again. Is a crash due soon?

..but again, reason it out. Can you produce a TSB from Ford that voids the warranty due to using a non- MotorCraft FL820S filter? Nope. You would surely figure that no one would produce one with a nitrile ADBV since the OEM uses silicon, right?? Yet we see all kinds of filter mans making modular filters with nitrile valves. How can this be?

Yet we know in engines that evidence start up rattle, that the use of nitrile ADBV's produces noise due to EMPTY FILTERS after the valves fatigue. Since we can reason ..(we do have brains) that one nitrile ADBV is as good as another ..AND that many fatigue after about 3k ..that "dry starts" aren't an issue with OEM OCI's hitting 5-7.5k routinely. Some engines will let you know about it. Others will not ..even with like orientation.


..as always ..there are exceptions ..but we're not on that kick yet ..at least too far, are we, Supe?? We're already at the "that's exactly what I've been saying all along" stage. ..yet you still can't just say "YES" at the appropriate time. We still have to take the trip

I said "help prevent" ... not "prohibit". You're not reading again - except maybe what you want to between the lines.

But did you just forget that you said above it doesn't care if the oil is contaminated or not. If that's your claim, then does it matter if it leaks or not, or at what rate it leaks at if the purpose is really not to control the "back flow" rate of dirty oil?

The reason there is probably a spec for how long it can hold is because it might be tough to design a flimsy rubber one-way valve that seal perfectly - no matter what the material is. I highly doubt it's a spec to "control" the filthy back washing of oil as you first claimed ... but then turned around and said dirty oil doesn't matter. You've went 180 on you claims ...

Probably because even a nitrile ADBV still meets the anti-drain seal test rate requirements. I highly doubt the spec has to be meet after so much actual use in the car ... probably it's only requirement is to meet the test spec when brand new.

As I originally stated ... the main purpose of the ADBV is to help prevent oil from draining out of the filter to help prevent "dry-starts" due to the filter being empty or partially empty of oil.

You can believe whatever suits your fancy, and twist it up any way you want ...

BTW - I never did see any technical references from you that showed that the design purpose of the ADBV was to control the back wash rate of contamination from the filter's media as you first claimed. 'Nuff said.
