My van was making a whoosh sound , now it's more like a knocking sound. It's a 1995 windstar van . I just had new plugs, oil change And throttle body cleaned yesterday . The mechanic drive it after and it was running ok. It just started making the noises today. I have video of the sound but it won't let me post it here.

I had a 1998 Windstar with the 3.8L V6 and towards the end it was making significant burping noises from the fuel filler cap, there was an internal failure of some vent inside the tank and a new tank was needed...that never happened and we lived with it. My wife was always embarrassed to drive it thru the drive thru...was that me? no, just the van, okay, sure lady..
What engine is it? I had a 2001 3.8 Windstar with a knocking sound and it was the upper intake manifold. The original design was a 2 piece intake (which came apart at around 72,000 miles) and the revised part was a 1 piece.

I'm surprised there are any 3.8 V6s still running. The one in my 94 Sable wagon blew its head gasket at around 120000 miles, and besides that, the whole car was a money pit.
