This is my daily driver, and with the recent snow we got I did have a little fun in it,and I was very hard on it especially with the 1st to 2nd gear shifts.

The trans has had Redline MT90 for the last 50k.
The current fill has about 30k on it.
Truck has 151k.
After the somewhat abusive week in the snow it now grinds almost every time going into 2nd gear once the fluid is warm.
No grinds when the fluid is cold.

I know this was not good for the trans ,but Im wondering If I just sheared the somewhat old fluid or is that synchro done.
I have a 04 Frontier with the same trans that loves Amsoil MTG so I have that on order for the HB. Does it sound resonable that even the Redline may have sheared and is not maintaining its grade when hot?
Thanks!

What normally goes out is the differential gears [spider gears] in high wheelspin situations. I ruined my BMW's differential when driving home in a massive snowstorm - wheelspin galore. [there were no options at the time but to keep driving]

You can try fresh sauce, and I wish you all the best.

30k is a good change interval for any gearbox.

UOA the Redline. Don't make assumptions.

Did you "Over fill" the transmission? On this model you are ment too over fill it from the top(think shift lever) because the factory fill hole was mounted too low. If you didnt this may be the major problem. 50k is too long for the fluid to be in the transmission. Now I personally have 106k on the factory fluid in my f150(mazda transmission) and its never given me any problems.

Do you have a source for this? Thanks!

Here. Read the entire thread. If you have a 4x4 with the FS5R30A trans, you need to overfill the trans by 1.6 quarts.
