Does anyone know which bulb the 1992 Corolla Le FWD vehicle use? A Google search indicates that most place only sell the entire assembly instead of the bulb. A call to AAP indicates that it uses 9004 bulb. I remember looking to upgrade the bulb last year and didn't see how it could come out.

Please direct to a good source for changing the bulb. My passenger side was went out.

By the way, I hate dual-beam bulb because they are more expensive to replace and actually is a waste because the high beam part is still perfectly good. Single beam in dual headlight setting is the way to go.

If you only have one bulb you most likely have 9004. Also the focus is horrible on both beams because the reflector is a compromise.

Yeah it may be the way to go but this vehicle was meant to be a cheap econo-box. Multiply the costs of using double harnesses by thousands and you'll understand why the manufacturer wen't this route.

The bulb fits into a circular star shaped doughnut in the back of the housing. Twisting it clockwise will unlock the doughnut, you can then pull the bulb straight out. If the passanger side is the side with the battery you may need to remove that first.

Rockauto also says it's a 9004/HB2. It should be replaceable. Even if you had to loosen the lamp housing screws/bolts and pull the housing out.

Oh, and I share your preference for dual-segment lamp housings. Single-segment lamp housings aren't great, especially a 9004/HB2 design.

I finally replaced it. It took a lot of twisting and swearing because the area is so small and DIY unfriendly. I didn't have to remove the lamp housing because that would mean removing the battery and a host of other things. I used some of the silicone gel to make sure it the bulb clamps stay on better it is a very odd angle to put back on.

I went ahead and replace both lights because the bulbs are cheap and I don't like having cops pulling me over and use that excuse to violate my rights. I opted for the standard bulbs because they last much longer and are bright enough. I never had any complain about their beam output but I haven't used the HID and super bright bulbs, which have a very short lifespan. I do have very bright LED running lights so I have all the lighting I ever truly need.

Thanks everyone for your help.
