Changed the ATF in my second 1991 MB 350SD, the one I won at auction, with 206k miles.
It shifted well, and I may have a record in the pile of receipts I have, but I figured it was best to baseline it.
ATF looked dark red, drained the pan and TC first.
Proceeded to drop the pan. Valve body is spotless.
There was a decent silver sludge in the pan. No magnet in there. It was consistently dispersed. You couldn’t see it unless you disturbed the thin layer at the bottom of the pan. But wiping it definitely showed it was there.
But the pan cleaned up nicely, I added a dimple black hole magnet, label removed.
FSM said 6.2 quarts. I put 4qts Supertech DM, 2 quarts Supertech DM high mileage, 7oz Lubeguard Red. Shifts perfect.
