Thanks for the notes. Aluminum and lead are lower in this latest sample from your V-8 so
pistons and bearings show better wear. This sample was in use about the same amount of miles as the last
oil run, and wear generally dropped. Some metals are still higher than average, but the improvements we
see here are great to see. The oil itself was in good shape and the viscosity held strong in the 5W/30 range.
No fuel, coolant, or water contamination was found. Insolubles held steady at 0.5%. Try around 5,000 miles
next. Nice report as of 3/9/13.

During this oil run, the leaking oil pan was fixed, a stop-leak additive was used, and PCV+breather were replaced/cleaned.

Looks like things might be trending down if the make up oil volume was the same.

Was the previous run oil Mobil Super by chance?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Make-up quarts were down by 33% this time as the leak was fixed during this run. MS5k was the previous oil used. I had some left over from use in the Granada. I'd use it again with no reservations since the leaks are down.

In my case, the rest of the car will likely fail first. This engine seems perfect in its' operation. I'd bet on the transmission or rust taking it out before that.

Man, you're racking up the miles! What is the gas mileage like? My old 85 Caprice did surprisingly well on the highway.

Averaging around 22-25 combined. Better than my Riviera.
