1978 Olds - change the ATF or leave it?

Use a "High Flow" Brass Screen Filter & a Farpak Pan Gasket, I've seen many issues with aftermarket TH350 Felt Filters wadding up & clogging the pump intake.
OE SPX Filtran "Felt" TH350 filters are next to impossible to find, If you do.....I guarantee it will be over 25 years old.

Install a Magnet in the pan, GM# 29532686

This is what a high flow brass filter & a Farpak gasket looks like.

Clinebarger, what would you opinion be on using a TES-295 fluid in an older transmission such as this one?

2X post #13^^^^. Get right spec ATF (build dates R specific, so is the fluid 4 it). Get right amount. Get new filter. Go to on-line olds clubs or dealer for these specs.
Same for crancase oil (flat tappet motor). Get modern equlivelent.
Rear end lube should not B ignored.
Brake fluid.
PS
Antifrz/boil
.
U can 'guess'n by golly' but do so after having the correct info. That way U know what you've done~
