And also be sure to fog/oil the cylinders!! I've owned 2 SB 'verts and forgot to fog once. In the spring, the motor was locked. Had to rebuild with new jugs/pistons. I always used Castrol 20W-50 BTW.

wish I had known about HDEO when I had my bugs. Mich. summers can be tough so 15w40 looks good.
Wow That Superbeetle takes me back. I had one just like it only orange.I drove to see Traffic (Rock Group)in Dallas that year also married my wife and still together today. Thanks for the memories and as I recall I pulled a small U-Haul thru the smokies never had any trouble.I traded it in for a Harley but wish I would have kept it I only paid $2000 new.
I use a 25% to 33% Mobil 1 T&S blend in all vehicles; Mobil 10w30 with T&S in the sedans and Delvac 1300 with T&S in the truck. I keep looking for a CI-4 rate 10w30 but the only stuff locally is the Motorcraft at Ford for $2.60 a qt, which is a bit steep.
