I won't discount his theory, but I won't believe it, either, until I see some proof.
The Norse, for example, were in North America some 400-500 years before 1421 and were kind enough to leave behind some evidence of their stay.

If the Chinese were really here, wouldn't they have left lots of toothpicks behind? I put my waders on before going to Chinatown.

Portugese, Vikings, and Chinese are reputed to have discovered Australia way before Cook bumped into us.

Portugese have a VERY decent map of our eastern seaboard.
Vikings apparently found our western seaboard, and donated red hair to the aboriginal gene pool.
Not sure on the Chinese contribution.

Vikings in Australia? That's a long reach from Scandinavia to Oz.
Supposedly, either they, the ancient Welsh, or the Irish gave some groups of American Indians blue eyes.

All in search of brown women. A truly great cause.

I actually don't think the bloody Vikings made it to AUS. I do believe the Chinese sailed pretty bloody far - and the evidence they hit South America is VERY compelling. NA is a bit of a stretch.

AS for the Chinese contribution to oz - mongolian beef? dry cooked spare ribs? red in snow greens?

The culture you live in writes the books you read. Of course, America invented most everything. China could have a different view and how would we know. Read any good Chineese books, lately? Same with wars. The victor writes the true story.

True, to a point. But on the other hand, it's quite popular to say something and expect it to be regarded as fact.
Maybe the Chinese did reach North America, but so far, nobody's offered any physical proof.
