Hello all. I run a small engine repair business myself and have been using Stens 10w40 oil w/ ZDDP, but it is now out of stock. It meets an API SL rating.

What is a good oil to use? NAPA's 10w40 is readily available. I'm looking for an oil that supports sustained high-rev, high-heat demands of small engines - from pushmowers to tractors.

I personally have had good luck with Mobil Delvac 1300 in my outdoor power equipment. It is not the most robust of the diesel oils, but it's price point is good and it is readily available. Check the link for its CK-4 flavor VOA.

Also note that I use this for OPE used in warmer conditions. For cold weather use, I would choose an oil with a lower winter rating.

Depending upon the starting temps a hdeo in 15w40 or 5W-40 would work well.
