10w30 T5 in chevy LS?

Is the new formula of rotella T5 dual rated oil? If not is it just a bunch of govermental [censored] or legitimately shouldn't be run in a gas engine.

I don't know about the T5 10W30, but the new CK-4 rated Shell Rotella T4 15W-40 still has 1200 ppm of zinc. http://pqiadata.org/Shell_Rotella_T4_15W40_4192017.html It's also Euro ACEA E9 which means reasonable SAPS levels. It is JASO MA/MA2 which is the Japanese standard for 4-stroke motorcycle oil, so it's fine for spark ignition gas / petrol engines.

Whay ya want to run it? Got a BBl in the barn for the other farm machines? Me I didn't like it twhen it first came out Maybe its better now. Liked Triple protect T3 10w30 dino much better. Is triple protect dino in the 10w30 off the market? That was like THE universal smooth and gooey and tough oil. That would be sad if its gone or messed with.

Hi Sealbilly, our new Rotella T6 Multi-Vehicle product is our only duel-rated oil. We would not recommend any of our other products for gasoline engines.

Thanks for your help Chris. Two questions if I may: - what would go wrong if you used the other Rotella products in a gas engine ? - if a product is rated JASO MA/MA2 then isn't that for gas engines, as I have never seen a diesel motorcycle ? Thank You in advance.

Don't go with the dual rated oil. 10W30 diesel oil CK4 fine, or 5W40 for LS engine. Dual rated takes all the good additives out of the oil to appease the API. The only reason why T5 and T6 arn't "dual rated" or don't carry an SN rating, the additive level zinc phos is higher than the allowable limit for SN. The formulation and additives have't changed only the specification changed for allowed limit in API SN. Hope this helps.
