If you car calls for 5W-30,I would use that with the auto-RX (conventional oil).Just curious, what was your reason for using 10W-30 with the rx?

Depends on the synthetic. If is just a group III and not one of the PAO based stuff you should be good.

I would do straight Dino if you are doing a short Auto RX run. The Synthetic is not needed for a short length of time.

Also it really helps if you do it in the summer months as Auto RX works best with lots of heat.

darkmagician,

I use Amsoil ATM 10W-30 in both NA Subaru's. I originally used SSO 0W-30 but both cars liked to moderately consume/burn between OCI.

Nevertheless, I decided to switch to an oil w/ lower Noack Volatility #s in hopes to reduce/end consumption/burning.

Good luck,

Hi, it is becasue there are generally 10w30 and 10w40 dino oil here. As for the 5w30, it was supposedly meant the syn oil that is to be used after the autorx treatment. All ratings mentioned are found in the manual
