They are super easy to service. It's almost like servicing a differential. I'm not totally convinced that the filter needs to be changed every 25k either. I would think a pump out and pump in of X qts would be sufficient. Get a Mag-hytec or PPE on the thing. It makes it even easier. I think it's fluid degradation.
My procedure:
Loosen fill plug on the driver side, take drain bolt out, after 10 minutes put drain bolt back in. Pump in fluid until it JUST dribbles out the filler hole, put plug back in, start it, get to 195* as tag on case says, engage reverse as well as drive for 3 seconds each twice, chalk the wheels, place in neutral pull the fill plug and pump in more ....slowly until it JUST dribbles out. DONE. 45 minutes tops your first time.

At some point I should buy a pump for filling, like you say. It’s very easy to evacuate out. I usually just (on mine and others) evacuate the oil, measure what came out, and refill with the same qty, and if I have the means also verify level to manufacturer. If it’s a Toyota with the level straw, I might go over by half a quart and let it drizzle out if needed. Instead of a fill pump, I have 6-8’ of tubing which I store in a clean baggie with a funnel attached to it. I’ll run the tube into the fill port and zip tie the funnel topside under the hood and let gravity do the work. Crude but cheap and does the job. It might be a little slow?
