1000 Collector Cars

😏 Some "collection"...
There's probably not a Simca 1000 among them.
The cast iron, rear engine made them fun to drive in the snow. They did set a little low with their 12" tires though.

At first I was jealous but after seeing how crammed in the cars are, that many vehicles seems pointless. I would like to drive my cars which is why I just sold my 996 Turbo. I could hardly ever get it out of the garage due to our driveway arrangement and daily drivers. Those cars of his would take hours to move to be able to get one locked in out.

Plus basic maintenance, tire inflation, gas stabilizer, etc

Wow, Jay Leno owns around 330 vehicles, including motorcycles. Being 3x ;arger is nuts, you can't even drive 1 car per day and run through that collection.

Pretty cool in some ways, maybe somewhat repetitive as a collection.

What I worry about is dude's health. How old is he? He appears to be in terrible shape, but I'm not a doctor and it's his life.

Anyway, I mean if could pick 10 out of there, that would be about the funnest thing short of adult activities.
I thought exactly the same

Yikes! That's a dead ringer for my very first car, a red '65 Simca 1000. Had no clue what a death trap it was! Bought it from my little brother for $100 when we were teens. We bought another one for parts, and swapped out the rear transaxle with just a bare minimum of tools, and no repair manual. Unfortunately, my bro failed to mention it had a stolen license plate on it, and I got nabbed by the coppers. The car was impounded, and I sold it to my boss for $35!

I learned to drive in a 1958 Simca Aronde. It had 4 on the tree and the person that gave me the driver test kept asking me why I put it in reverse to start up. First gear was where 3 speeds have reverse.

Great question. Has this owner made plans for his collection once something happens to him?

William Harrah was wealthy and had a collection of antique and collectible cars along with an impressive operation for restoration, but he had made no plans for the lot after his death. The cars were sold and dispersed and the restoration shop closed after he died.

I'd have a will that it would be auctioned off but when you're dead you ain't gonna care...

It's easy to get wrapped up in being the man in collecting and it becomes your identity. Been there and done that....no way to live and personally I'd get a big thrill auctioning that stuff off and move on...

I once had over 1200 guns and it was a constant worry.. Wasn't worth it.

Mine was a 1968 1000, red just like the one smashed.
The morning after our wedding, I got my wife up and we drive about 40 miles to swap cars.
I traded a 1970 Torino GT for the 1968 Simca 1000 from a co-worker. A couple of weeks after that I purchased a 1969 Simca 1000 as a parts car, for $50 (from the same co-worker), since he didn't have the title.
First thing I did was got 12" mud/snows on the rear and highway tires on the front. That little red Simca was a lot of fun to drive around.
On the flip side of the coin, my wife of 44 years has never let me forget that wasn't the most romantic thing we could have done, the day after our wedding. I have to concede, maybe she was right about that one.
The Simca is long gone, but she's still with me... Go figure! 🥲

But you still collect Speed Stick and DVDs, right?
