15 or so of these in my front yard; some 6" in diameter; any info appreciated
Looks like a death cap big enough to kill two people but there are edible lookalikes. Check the gills, the annulus on the upper stem , and the volva aka cup around the bulbous base. Wash your hands after touching the mushroom without disposable gloves. Read this article. If in doubt, if children or pets have access, remove them if they are death caps. Rabbits can eat them.
 
We have some milkweeds on the side of the house and about 2 weeks ago I saw a caterpillar crawling up the wall of the house. Didn't think anything of it until I saw this:

Unfortunately, I didn't make it back in time to witness the grand unveiling, but the world now has another Monarch butterfly.
 
We have some milkweeds on the side of the house and about 2 weeks ago I saw a caterpillar crawling up the wall of the house. Didn't think anything of it until I saw this:

I get those sometimes in my backyard in March and April. The chrysalis looks very cool, like made of jade.
