7 years ago I managed to knock 3 of the 4 insert seats clean off a high feed mill. 2” diameter cutter, I was running it at about 2,000rpm and ~100 inches per minute feed rate… which is pretty quick. IIRC the fastest that machine could move was 300 inches per minute. Boss looked at it and said “I’m impressed that’s all the damage you did.”

We had another job where we had to cut a 4” slot 3 or 4” deep into a 6”x6”x78” piece of cast iron. We ran this same style cutter at 250 inches per minute…. It would cut silently, but the chips hitting the doors sounded like thousands of those little pop its fireworks raining down right behind you lol
