1(?) oil change per 1 million miles.

Ive been using toilet paper filters for over 60 years. Im 84 now. Started with a Frantz in 1964. Started using a Motor Guard a few years later. All I use now is Motor Guards Gulf Coasts an Australian Jackmaster Classic and a flat head Ford V8 canister filter that I converted to use Scott 1000. It has half a roll of VIVA Signature Cloth paper towels in it now. Not crazy about the design of the Frantz. Went with the top loaders years ago. About the only one left that is economical is the Australian Jackmaster. I use Great Value 1000 from Walmart in mine. I did cut a Viva towel element for it. Thats whats in it now.
Were you Clyde on here as well for a time? Curious similarities in the stories you tell. Could be coincidence I suppose; just wondering.

I
I see a picture that links to nowhere and doesn't mention anything on a bypass filtration system. A million miles??? I don't buy into the claim.
It was being monitored by Shell oil It used Shell Rotella 15W 40 conventional. Every 250.000 miles the engine was taken apart the parts were measured and it was put back together .The used oil was poured back in. Then the truck went on the rollers to check the horse power. They figured as long as they kept using the used oil it wasn't a oil change. At some point a mechanic sees the tub of used oil and disposed if it. They had to fill the engine with new Rotella and call it an oil change. It took me about 20 years to put 250.000 miles on the 84 Subaru with no oil drains.

It was a shell oil test truck. Used Shell Rotella 15W 40 and a 10 quart Gulf Coast filter which at the time used 2 rolls of Bounty big roll paper towels. Tore the engine down and measured thhe parts. Put it back together put the used oil backin and tested the horse power.

Gulf coast bypass filter?
Its old news. Shell oil was monitoring it. It used Shell Rotella 15 W 40 conventional. The Gulf Coast filter at the time used 2 rolls of Bounty big roll paper towels and im told holds 10 quarts. Road king magazine said the make up oil added at filter changes was equal to a full oil change every 40.000 miles. Road King had an article October November 1996. Nothing new I ran my Subaru 250.000 miles with no oil drains using a Frantz oil cleaner. Took me about 20 years. My Gulf Coast filters hold 1 quart. I use Motor Guards a Australian Jackmaster Classic and a flat head Ford V8 canister filter set up for Scott 1000.

Nothing new with bypass filters

You still have to top off oil regularly for oil consumption
You still have to change your full flow oil filter as required
And obviously, the bypass has its change intervals too

If you know what you are doing with a bypass filter, you don't ever need to change your oil.
