I change timing belts and the crank pulley bolts are too tight for a 1/2" impact. Same for some F150 lug nuts.
Should be the impact wrench of choice for the guys who install drain plugs and oil filters at jiffy lube.

I didn't have an impact available at the time but I had to use a 5 foot cheater bar over a 4 foot 1" drive breaker bar to get the nuts off one particularly stubborn truck.
Get the right socket. I don't know the brand but companies make those oversized (thicker wall) sockets just for this purpose, especially with Honda engines.
I know about those. They just came out a few years ago. I got the 1" impact way before then.
I think Paoli offers them. They are designed to be used in the garage area while on pit road they use nitrogen or helium powered guns.
how would you get that close to the crank bolt? pull the engine?
The milwaukee 2767-20 1/2" fuel impact will get those off with with right socket.

After you pull the right wheel and splash shield, it's right there.
on some cars you need to loosen the engine mount some as the crank pulley is part obscured by the body (hyundais, some engines), but most of the time as atikovi says. My go to for crankshaft bolts aswell...
Does that mean you can't use them because you bought your impact before ?
No, it means I can't use them because I don't have them. If I already have the 1" drive sockets, why buy a set of the the 1/2 inch drive ones for something I might use once a year?
I blast semi truck lug nuts and Honda crank pulley bolts all the time with my I. r. 261.
