Recently got a hybrid car. In the USA they spec 0w20 and overseas they spec 5w30.

Im not from the US just in case.
Would 0w20 really flow that much better from the constant start/stops of a hybrid engine or the 5w30 would provide better protection?

Ambient temp never gets below 23-24c which is around 73f-75f

Just looking for opinions, we are in bitog afterall

It's not about flow, it's about cranking and pumpability. If the engine cranks the oil will flow. The winter rating is what is important there anyway, and at the temperatures you list an oil with a 20W winter rating would be acceptable.

Here are a few previous threads on this extremely popular topic. If you look around you will find at least 50 more that touch on the subject, some are pretty long and epic with extensive dead-horse beating. The first one below is pretty specific to your question.

I bought 0w20 preemptively. Now i have 2 5qt jugs of such oil.
I will probably use the 0w20 in the beater and get some 5w30 for the newer car.

No since almost all start stop cars are not programmed to do that until they get to a certain temperature so start stop flow isn't a concern and even if it was it's minimum. I'd use 5w-30.
That has not been my experience with hybrids specifically. After an oil change on the Sienna Hybrid I always press the gas pedal while in park to get the ICE to start so I can check for leaks. It will usually stay on for 30 seconds to a minute and then shut off. Also, while driving, I’ve seen it shut off within a less than 30 seconds after starting. Oil temp isn’t a factor for cycling off from what I have seen. Non hybrids are a different story.

There is so much thermal management on these cars now, well beyond your daddys old Chevy 1500. They heat up a lot quicker, keep the heat in better, release the heat better, have double cooling systems (inverter) and oftentimes electric motors driving the accessories.

Its the same engine at the root so use what you want, but these engines seem to last forever and forever on any kind of oil. I run 0w-20 in mine and I dont loose a minute of sleep thinking about it.

Any API cert 5w30 and sleep well. We used 5w30 in all our hybrids at work also.

With those ambient temperatures 5w30 all day every day.
