Greetings Everyone,

Been a long while since I last posted my 1st post (I usually just read what's already posted here). I'm debating whether I should replace my fuel pump assembly on my 09 corolla. Its starting to kind of struggling every now and then starting up (not on cold start but on warm start). My car doesn't cut off when driving, no check engine light, I tried fuel cleaners, and made sure it wasn't my battery or alternator giving me trouble. I was wondering what fuel pump assembly brands should I get if I choose to replace my current fuel pump assembly or keep one on standby until my current fuel pump assembly just gives in. Reading past post, I'm still not sure of what brand to get or how the aftermarket brands today didn't get worse and I'm seeing "newer" brands name like Sparta showing up and was wondering if anyone has used the Sparta brand yet? I'm on a budget, and the listed of brands to pick from is limited on RA. I can get the Sparta brand on Amazon for 50-70 ish as of now. If not maybe take a gamble and go to the junkyard? Thank you for your time and help regarding this post.

The Carter is probably a good one, at least there's name recognition.

I've had good luck with extremely generic models so... shrug?

The Hella is probably a pre 2022 Bosch unit and are good, Hella never made these kind of parts it is just a rebrand as they were partnered with Bosch, Behr, Mahle before the take over by the French company Faurecia.

Edit: Turn the key on for a few seconds before cranking it to pressurize the system, if it does the same thing chances are it is not the pump having issues.

I recently replaced a fuel pump on a 2019 Nissan Sentra. I ordered the Carter pump and paid a premium price and while the data on the pump said it came with a new o-ring, there was no o-ring in the box. The Carter pump seemed to be of high quality and replicated the OEM exactly to include a French made pump assembly.

Of note, the reason for the pump replacement wasn't for failure of the fuel pump but rather failure of the fuel temperature sensor. The sensor is part of the pump and not a separate item so the vehicle got an entirely new pump. At 90,000 miles, the small sock filter attached to the filter was filthy.

I think the Carter brand is worth the few extra dollars.

Carter has been going down hill for many years they are owned by the now bankrupt First brands company. If it is a French made pump it is probably made by Forvia which is part of Faurecia same as Hella so it is just a rebrand.

What else have you done to diagnose the issue? This does not sound like a fuel pump failure.
Other then just basic maintenance, recently did air filter/spark plug changes. Other than that the battery, starter, alternator is fine.

I have done that and turn the key on for a few seconds, and someone told me to press on the gas pedal a few times to see. So far I haven't heard anything or see a delay when turning the car on.

Have you checked your fuel injectors? Might be a worthy consideration.
