I'm coming up on my 30K maintenance which includes changing the coolant. I bought a couple gallons of Peak 50/50 antifreeze. But after reading some stuff online, I'm realizing it may not be the best thing for my engine. It states on the container that it can be used in all makes and models of vehicles.

My OEM coolant is green in color. Do I need to buy some coolant directly from Mitsubishi or is the Peak coolant safe to use?

No, eth glycol (green) will work just fine and is probably the same or close to Mitsu's. Ive use Prestone 50/50 mix long life eth glycol in my VIII.

I would take a look at the back of the jug of an OE bottle. If it is like many other Japanese cars, it has phosphates, and zero silicates.

If that is the case, buy OE coolant, as peak Global Lifetime has no phosphates, so it might not protect the aluminum stuff as well as it should.

If it's regular Peak Long Life (not Global), then it has 2-EHA organic acid, which is the bad stuff in Dexcool.

I'd use Peak Global Lifetime, as it does not contain 2-EHA.

It's Peak extended life 50/50 premixed. Not the global stuff. I figured OEM is always the safe bet. I wanted to avoid the half hour trip to the dealership and having to mix the stuff myself. The already diluted stuff is easier. More accurate already mixed. But it's simple enough doing it yourself as well.

Our Genuine Mitsubishi coolant comes in the same bottles as BP uses for their coolant....except that it has a Mitsubishi logo.

In case you find it helpful, part number for 4 litres of Mitsubishi Genuine Premixed coolant is MZ313950.
