I guess you wouldn't call it a pattern failure but I went through a dozen (all different vehicles) in 2 years compared to 2 GM and 1 Toyota.
Honda had a bulletin on the relay. If the one in the car is an Omron that's an issue and should be replaced anyway. They don't list other models but they fail also with the Omron.
Fuel pump relays on 05 and 06 officially but really up to about 09 are another problem, if the relay is a Denso its good if it has Mitsuba on it change it as a precaution.

As would have it, the AC is working perfectly as of yesterday. Should I go ahead and replace the relay or wait and see if the condition repeats?
Edited to add: Any particular brand of relay I should look for or better yet, any brand to stay away from? My local NAPA actually has one in stock. I did not check AZ or Advance but Oreily would have to order it. I do have a local Honda dealer if the OEM would be the best idea.
I would replace the relay ASAP. They can also stick on, which will drain the battery overnight, can also melt the A/C clutch field coil. There is an updated relay, it is much taller than the original version, so easy to tell them apart. I probably do 10 or so a month during the summer. Extremely common.
