Still shearing down, just used up the last of my Kirkland oil. So one more report to follow with it. Will try something different next time.
It goes on sale a few times a year. Not bad, tbn is in the 3's. Kirkland has lost some of its value. It's now $40 for 10 quarts when it used to be $30 or a bit less. I'd rather just order Qs 5w-40 on wm.com with free shipping since it's only $3 a jug more but better.
TBH this oil is usually very good in others cars in my family. I’ll be trying something different next change.I wouldn't run this oil past 5k.
The last time I sampled this oil was in my 2014 Cruze 1.4L turbo at 5k miles and it still had plenty of life in it. I think 8500 miles on an oil that sells regularly for $16/5qts is a pretty solid value.I wouldn't run this oil past 5k.
Why not? The UOA looks just fine.I wouldn't run this oil past 5k.
It's has already sheared below it's viscosity grade. And just because the analysis looks okay on paper, doesn't mean the internals can show signs of tarnishing. Why not? The UOA looks just fine.
And the engine is specd for 0w20, not 5w30, so it doesn’t matter if it’s shearedI wouldn't

You're wrong! It's an 07, Spec'd for 5W-30.And the engine is specd for 0w20, not 5w30, so it doesn’t matter if it’s sheared
Toyota/lexus released an updated oil application chart that shows anything between 0w20-5w30 is acceptable in the rx400h. And most importantly, based on the wear levels, the engine couldn’t care lessYou're wrong! It's an 07, Spec'd for 5W-30.

View attachment 253370It's still spec'd for 5W-30 when it was built. They probably posted this due to more CAFE benefit
Another guy who ends his message with an emoji.Yeah….im sure they released this chart for CAFE requirements on model years of the past…![]()
No one, including Blackstone themselves know whether there is mechanical shear of the VM or if there is fuel dilution. A Blackstone analysis cannot determine this.I wouldn't
