Caught a very important moment in my car's life the other day.

Picture take while revving in neutral to the new Rev Limit.

Together with my 07 EX Auto.

Oh come on, it was built for this. This same engine in Japan has an 8,600rpm redline. After proper tuning, i'm able to safely rev the engine just as high and have been doing so for 80,000+ miles.

If you actually drove it, you'd think otherwise. It runs and drives absolutely FLAWLESSLY. You;d never guess that it has 100k on it.

Do those engines take premium? Don't know why I'm asking. Just curious. Not many N/A factory engines require premium and I thought I remembered that being one of them.

These Si's are sweet for their class and love to rev. However, even this engine will have more wear if always driven this way. Oil burning, leaking seals and lower compression is not uncommon when driven in this manner.

Sweet looking Si! I wish my EX was that color! Mine is a much paler looking blue compared to that. Love the wheels that Honda puts on these cars too, there really is no need for Si owners to go aftermarket at all (unless they wanted to go to a larger diameter)

Congratulations on 100,000, the car looks sharp.

When it wears out, buy another one. Not trying to turn this into a rant but I cannot understand the rationale of people who buy performance cars and drive them slow.

Is the Si really that much a better car than the EX ?

Yes, 10x better in every aspect minus a few MPGs worth.

I feel the same. I drive it like I stole it every day of the week. Doesn't burn anymore oil then ave for this type of engine. Power numbers @ 100k match those with similar mods but with 20k on the clock. Maybe @ 200k it will be a different store but a bottom end engine swap is $500 away from continued fun for another 100k

I do it all the time while rev matching to go into a higher gear (3rd down into 2nd gear, for example)

Here's an example made by yours truly.

I'm a person who does not like to see cars abused excessively.

That's part of the reason Civic Si's impresss me SO much - on one of these, this ISN'T abuse!

These may be one of the ONLY cars built today that is designed for this kind of use, day in, day out.

Thank you for the positive comment, Addy. I FULLY agree with everything that you said. The Civic Si and the S2000 are built for this type of driving, revving the engine sky high. It makes peak power @ 7,800rpm stock so obviously, the 8k redline is a safe place to be.

Mine spins to 8,700 with ease and doesn't complain one bit. Been doing so daily for the past 4 years and 100k. Not one issue with the drivetrain.

I drive it HARD but i don't abuse my car. Always a nice, gentle warm up and i never go out and just rip it up.
