Johnny,

No. I use the $11 a pop, buy in bulk, from a well known Cat dealer.

I do need to change the air filter by looks of things.

I forgot to mention in my original post that I run this 4 Runner very hard. I still have dreams of a Formula One scout seeing me take a freeway ramp hitting a perfect apex.

Si on all samples is very, very high. I'm aware the motor is newer, so some is break-in, but Toyota's usually break in very quick, so you MIGHT want to check your air intake/filter.

I love the add-pack on those Schaeffer oils. Viscosity retention on them is also nice.

Again, I want to simly state that many on this board would scream if they saw iron numbers that high with Mobil 1. Why does this oil get a pass? Or is it because iron numbers in this range (mid-20s) are really OK? I like to hear some comments on this isse.

Good run! Looks like everything is nominal, but research the Si.

Yes, there was just a SSO run, with 12.5K and 20 ppm Fe. I believe someone said Fe was high (in a very humble and nice way, not a problem)

It's marketing, human perception and sex....er monkeys that sell motor oil.

Ill be one of the first to state that M1 is a quality product (take a look at my recent saab UOA), and most of the "discussion" on it is rather ridiculous.

That said, given the full circumstances, particularly Si levels, can we call this a "perfect" UOA or perfect set of conditions? Id say not. There may well be a set of contributions to the Fe reading. Plus, the vehicle is still rather new.

For toyota engines I personally have found M1 to be best, but I am using Schaeffer's on 2 MBs, 1 VW, 1BMW and 1 chevy currently. It is great oil too.

Not sure. Why are you asking me?

Silicone in the VOA of 9000 series oil on this site shows less than 10. That makes the Si of 32 actually 22 or a little more. That is probably causing the high iron, unless this is a motor that sheds silicone assembly sealant for 30K miles.

Good report joatmon! All other wear metals low, Schaeffers is very good oil

Pabs,

Well, no sex involved in marketing Schaeffers. You implied there may be with AmsOil.

Tha rock. What happened to tha rock? I lost track after the national media lost interest.

Thanks, I've always been satisfied with Schaeffers. I do think I need to look at air filtration. Here's an analysis of virgin 9000 5W30 from my lot.

This sample was run on July 28, 2008.

It looks like they have silicon levels down from past experiences.

The oil was purchased in the fall of 2007.

Oh I was referring to Castrol commercials vs. M1, that portion of my response wasn't directed at you. Nothing about Schaeffers or Amsoil.

Rock has had a cold winter.

Without a TBN, TAN and Flash Point, it's difficult to determine the condition of the oil at 10K.

Is this the 2GR-FE engine?

The add pack sure still looks strong, even after 10k. I wouldn't be surprised if the iron comes down in the next 15k or so. That said 22 ppm is still relatively low and the lead has come down.

Thanks.

Alway happy with Schaeffers.

Everything you need, nothing you don't.
