SIENNA: The oil was from mid-November to mid- April. Stop & go traffic and mixed driving. It's the wife's vehicle. Extensive idling in the winter, that's why I changed it, to be on the safe side. Next time, I'll go longer.
TACOMA: Oil from May- June. Just curious to see how the oil's doing in the engine. A little worried about the Viscosity-- 8.5 @ 100celsius.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi there,
It doesn't say universal. The UOA was done in WearCheck Canada in Missisauga, ON. This is my second oil anylisis on my Tacoma, the first being with Blackstone laboratories (the silicone was 95). I kind of like the Blackstone report because it's easier to understand, but I tried WearCheck because it's less of a hassle than mailing, plus not to mention when I took the oil sample on the Sienna 3 mo. ago, I almost forgot about it. And I needed a quick turn-around. I live about 40 min. away from the wear check lab.

Sienna is fully broken in I assume since its >40k km. With EaO and ASL, Wear numbers are nice but not sure if numbers should be lower for 6500 km which is about 4k miles. If this oil is recommended for super long intervals, I wonder how the wear metals would read then... I have SM ASL in my garage which is not going in anytime soon as I have a suspicion my mitsu is still breaking in at 15k km. The Taco numbers only prove my theory that new vehicles need frequent oil changes and I am glad I am not the only person who changed their oil quite frequently when new... BTW, I looked into wearcheck website and it wasnt very user-friendly.

Help me out here. What's the "S" in oil condition

Sulfur??

Yes, S is sulfur.

I like what data this lab provides. Oxid, Nitr, Sulfation are great to have. A VOA is needed for each oil to know the starting values though. Esters can show up as oxidation because they have oxygen atoms in their molecules.

Thanks, Jag, for clarifying that(S is sulfur). This company caters mostly to commercial businesses. If I remember correctly, Patman mentioned that he used this lab for his oil analysis. If I could figure it out, I'd post the full results, which have graphs and everything, and maybe someone could interpret the whole thing. I'm a newbie.
