Ok so I know this is the Mazda transmission in our F-150. I used Speciality Formulations in our last V6 5-spd but wanted to see what recommendations people had for something a little cheaper that would work well and I could buy in some auto parts store. Thanks for any input.

Check the owner's manual and see what it suggests then post that. It would help if we knew what the factory recommends before speculating on what else might work.

If it's a 2005 Ford F150 5 speed it should be a Mazda M5OD transmission that takes Mercon ATF (Ford part number XT-2-QDX) according to my lube guide.

If this is the transmission you have you can use any high quality Mercon ATF fluid you can find in the parts stores. Please double check to make sure as lube guides can be wrong from time to time.

ATF or any similar fluid. Pennzoil synchromesh is a little thicker and should work well. Royalpurple has the synchromax. SF has the MTFglide and synchroglide. Redlines MTL or D4, and Amsoils ATF or MTF are some options.
