Here's the latest UOA for my Saab. The car had 70,225 miles when the sample was taken, ~5,000 mile OCI. Used Mobil 1 5W-40 TDT and a PureOne filter. Used LC20, 8 oz at the initial fill and a couple oz every 1k. The oil was in the car from early January to early April. Used FP60 a few times at the beginning of the OCI, then ran out. It had a tank of FP3000 towards the end.
Of note was a problem with the thermostat/coolant temp sensor midway through the OCI. The engine failed to warm up properly and ran cool. It was like this for 300-400 miles before I fixed it.
Here are the results, from Blackstone. I also got Terry's thoughts. First column is most recent. Second column is another 5k sample of M1 5W-40, taken at 45k, no LC or FP during that run. Third is the car's first sample, of a 3,700 mile run of mystery oil from the dealer at 14.4k. Last column is Blackstone's universal averages, which I believe are given for something in the neighborhood of 5k.
Al 1 2 3 3
Cr 1 1 1 1
Fe 11 11 20 19
Cu 4 8 8 5
Pb 1 2 5 6
Sn 2 2 0 1
Ni 1 0 0 0
Mn 0 0 0 1
K 2 1 0 1
Si 8 8 6 8
Na 5 3 4 10
Only have these for the last two. Third column is Blackstone's "should be":
Viscosity 67.1 68.6 65-78
Flashpoint 365 350 >375
Fuel 0.5 1.3 Insolubles 0.3 0.3
TBN was 3.3 this time, 4.3 last time.
Two things jump out at me - first, this engine pummles the oil. Sheared down a good bit (I believe it starts around 75) and the flashpoint is quite depressed. Second is that I don't believe I've seen a UOA of this engine with better overall wear numbers than this.
