I did a front brake job on my van yesterday, and I was a little surprised to see that I had very uneven wear on one side with one of the rotors gouged on the inside and the inside pad at about half the thickness of the outside. The lower caliper bolt seemed a little dry upon removal, so I at first thought that the caliper had just hung up a little because of that.
Then I remembered that the car had fallen off the jack when I was rotating tires on that side about 18 months ago, falling about 8" onto the rotor. At the time I thought everything looked okay. The dust shield bent a little, but that was easily fixed. Now I'm wondering whether I didn't bend the caliper bracket or lower bolt slightly. Would this explain my uneven wear?
I have it all back together now, but I'm thinking that I should maybe get another bracket and caliper bolts.
Any opinions?
