Speaking of which.....my wifes Corolla is begining to show its ugly face. The A/C works whenever it wants, there are a million rattles inside and outside the cabin and overall feel is going south.
I looked for the A/C fuse in the engine comparment, just in case it is lose or something, but could not find it. Does anybody know why the A/C on this car works on its own schedule????

Had a Corolla drove it 215,000 miles, the last 100,000 hard miles...body held ok but ready to go in some areas..engine ok but lost a lot of power...trans made a funny sound but could still go and all in all I think I could had put another 50,000 miles..had for 15 years. Only thing that went bad was the wiring...wasn't worth replacing it. Might be shorting somewhere...

2003TRD,

Yes Insolubles are the limiting factor here.

Basically they are undesireable elements circulating in the oil. If you drive more highway miles (fewer short trips) you probably don't have the same problem.

I will defer to TooSlick on the different Amsoil formulas.

I guess we should get back to using this

Hey...and would you guys stop picking on my Toyota Supra?

Actually, the head gasket is the one weak link in the whole car. Which could of been easily avoided if you knew to retorque the heads to a higher but actually more reasonable value before problems developed. Other than that, the engine is near bulletproof in stock form.

The rest of the car is solid as a rock too.

Sorry guy's, I did not intend to get everybody on the defensive! With that being said, I can honestly tell you that I have never seen any Toyota go over 300,000 miles. That is not saying there are not some that do, I just have not witnessed it. Most Toyotas I see in my father's shop are burning oil by about 200,000 or so. Also here in New England Toyota's (especially their trucks) are so rotted by the time they have that kind of mileage they won't pass inspection anyway. TooSlick, I am glad that you have had such good luck with your Tacoma, But after working at a Ford dealership, and years of being around my fathers garage, I can tell you that this is also the norm for Ford trucks! Of the three NEW Fords that I have owned, 98 Ranger,01Mustang GT,03 F250, none of them have had to go back for repairs of any kind except the Ranger, wich was for a contaminated MAF sensor from an over oiled k&N filter (my own fault)! I guess everyone has their own opinion based on personal experience, and that is fine, This is a free country!

Im sorry dude, but your screen name shows your bias and so does your post. Ive owned 2 fords, and now a toyota truck. Even if the they last the same mileage the toyota is a hands down quality winner. And as far as you seeing toyotas "rotted" thats bs, i have 2 friends both with well over 200000 miles on their 10 year old toyota trucks. I will agree that toyotas start burning/ using oil but all vehicles do that at some time or another. **** , the newer chevy v8's burn quarts from the factory. Anyone that would buy a truck that claims using 1.5 quarts or less every 2k miles is ok is crazy. And i dont know about you but have you ever seen a ranger with 200k miles on it, looks like it was in a mad max movie because they just dont hold up. I can understand that being a ford guy why you might fire off at toyota, I mean the taurus got bumped by the camry, now they expect the ranger to get bumped by the tacoma eventually, especially with the new redesign. I generally wouldnt even reply to uninformed posts like this, and i could care less about toyota vs gm wear numbers because ALL cars will last 200k miles nowadays easy, but I cant handle it when bandwagon ford/chevy/toyota/dodge/any brand people make posts that are just not even factual but down right retarded.

And BTW, both my rangers(yes I owned 2) had to be taken into the shop for repairs at least 3 times in the first 30k miles. And dont even get me started on my mom's 2001 taurus.
