00 Taurus 24V DOHC v6: EGR problems affect oil?

There is an EGR problem with it, the car runs rough off the line and has a bad idle, EGR related. The car has 10k miles on Mobil 1 Extended Protection 5w30 oil, I wanna change it but am wondering if it will affect the readings on an oil analysis?

I would look for higher nitration levels, thickened viscosity, and possibly higher bearing wear.

Why not change out the EGR? How hard is it to change on a Taurus?

Most of those EGR's only have 2 or 3 bolts and a wire connector.

The long life motor oils really depend on a proper running, in tune engine and operation for the oil to be able to reach the mileage claims. To answer your question about affecting your oil anaylsis ,get an oil analysis cause that is the reasons to get one.

The EGR has been replaced. Apparently there was a recall, but because of the age of the car it no longer qualifies and Ford wants $300 bucks to fix. The car was taken to another shop they did the EGR, plugs and wires and made no difference.
