    GC 0w-30, 2008 Infiniti G35 VQ35HR, 8100 miles

Troubling. Being the owner of a 2007 G35x, I'm now wondering what oil I should be using, and if I now need to reduce my OCI's? 70/30 city vs highway driving, for me. I have been using GC @ 7500 mile OCI's.

    Nissan Ester 5W30-'08 Infiniti G37, 1.5k mi

Jonny, I thought I read in the old thread that you were moving over to Redline? Any thoughts along those lines? I just stumbled upon this post today, and I have a '07 G35x with (obviously) the 3.5L, and am now a bit worried about the longevity of this platform. Although, admittedly, I don't...

Both my '07 Infiniti G35x and '07 Honda CR-V EX AWD were assembled in Japan.

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

With the IS350, I was in a similar situation as I am with the Infiniti; I used the ATF based on past experience and was happy with the results. As you said, Critic, I had good results although it wasn't necessarily the "correct" fluid. Thanks much, Joe

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

Licensed? What does that mean? What I can tell you is that based on all the warnings on the car and in the owners manual, Nissan firmly believes that only their fluid will work and all others will void the warranty if there is an issue.

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

As far as I know, it's the factory fill. If I make the jump, that will also be getting the Amsoil ATF. Amsoil shows that's what to use, plus I used it in the case of a 2001 Pathfinder I had and it worked great.

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

Thanks for the reply! I already have some of that very gear lube, so changing out the front and rear diffs is on my project list.

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

Yes, Amsoli's site shows it to be compatible with all three of Nissan ATFs. I really like Amsoil's products, but I also don't want to make a foolish move that could sacrifice my car. Their ATF made a great difference in the 2004 Acura. I could feel the difference in shift quality and...

Amsoil ATF for 2007 Infiniti G35x?

Hi all, I just purchased a new-to-me 2007 Infiniti G35x, which includes an automatic transmission. I have used Amsoil AFT in several of my past cars including a 2004 Acura TL and a 2006 Lexus IS350, both with great results. However, I have been doing some reading and among some of the Infiniti...

    Synthetic ATF Fluid?

I had a 2004 TL with an automatic and because this particular transmission has a flawed design involving 2nd gear, I changed over to Amsoil Universal ATF at ~ 1500 miles. I sold the car with 13,000 miles on the clock and in my opinion the tranny ran better than new (crisp shifts and no flare)...

That would have been a nice feature! Oh well.

    Oil for 1st change - Lexus IS350

In order to get to the filter on this particular vehicle, I did need to get it off the ground and access the canister via a removable panel underneath the car. Additionally, the canister on this car is mounted parallel to the ground (Critic, I assume that was what you were referring to by...

    Oil for 1st change - Lexus IS350

This may be a naive question, but what would have been the reasoning behind Toyota going with a cartridge filter as opposed to a self-contained unit?

ekpolk, Thanks for the advice. I think I will look into the sample pump; makes a lot of sense to me.

    Oil for 1st change - Lexus IS350

Thank you all for the replies. I certainly didn't intend to get fur to stand on end; however, banter is good and hopefully leads people to be open to the ideas of others and to think. In any event, I went with Havoline 5W30 and a new filter cartridge (first car I've ever owned with this...

    Oil for 1st change - Lexus IS350

Car's clock is at 3500 miles and it holds the factory fill. I would have preferred to change it out a little earlier but due to health issues I've been unable to do so. Car is used for daily commute to and from work, ~20 miles each way, and is a 50/50 mix of surface streets and freeway. I do...

    Oil for 1st change - Lexus IS350

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! JohnBrowning, you are correct in that the manual calls for 5W30 (10W30 in a pinch). I certainly will be changing the filter cartridge with each change and I already have four factory replacements sitting in the garage. Post-production market seems to be...
