    Shell Rotella Gas Truck

I'm a bit committed to the 0w-20 flavor of SGT now. Picked up 30 quarts in the ongoing Autozone clearance. Ends up $0+tax after rebate ($0.20/qt) net. Going to run this in a DI Mazda 2.0. SN+ and dexos1/gen2 should do fine. Higher moly is in keeping with Mazda's own oil as well. Otherwise...

    2003 Jeep 4.0, Shell dino 10w-30 SN

Ran this test to check engine condition more than anything, as I bought this Jeep with 120k on the clock. Have run it to 130k and had 5k on this OCI. Post this test, I'm running high mileage M1. Highest 100C cSt I had in my stash, as I've read the 4.0 prefers heavier grades. Though I've found...

    Chevron Supr, 5w-30 SN, 8k, Subaru EJ25 2.5L

One of my previous UOA posts, with 3 oils compared in the same engine: here Results below: QSUD = Quaker State Ultimate Durability, MS = Mobile Super 5000 Code: OIL Chev 5w30 SN QSUD5w30 SN MS 5w30 SN MILES IN USE 6500 7400 5700 MILES...

    Chevron Supr, 5w-30 SN, 8k, Subaru EJ25 2.5L

From a 2007 Subaru Forester 2.5 naturally aspirated with 162K. I ran the oil to 8050 miles not by choice. I was a bit derelict in getting it changed. I had the external infamous head gasket leak and both HGs were replaced at 125k. This was my first UOA after that work a few years ago. This run...

    Chevron 5w-30 SN, 6.5k mi, 07 Subaru, w/1k towing

I got a boatload for around $1/qt on some special.

    Chevron 5w-30 SN, 6.5k mi, 07 Subaru, w/1k towing

This is the dino Chevron, purchased in early 2012 roughly. I previously planned to test every 50k. But with the heavy towing on this cycle (~3000 pounds over 1100 miles for the EJ25 4 cyl), I tested earlier. Not ideal to run 6500 miles, was boneheaded. But the oil held up. Sample was taken just...

Quake State UD 5w30 SN, 7400 mi, 07 Subaru EJ25

I forgot to note: 2007 Forester. Looks like the EJ253 with i-Active valves. I know Subaru's multi layered steel HGs are supposed to end the problem, but there are still problems galore on the Subie boards. My external oil leak started around 80k and is serious enough to coat the steering rack...

Quake State UD 5w30 SN, 7400 mi, 07 Subaru EJ25

This is 90% wide open highway miles. Run in the winter of 12/13 till May 2013. Bonus, the previous Mobil Super 5w30 SN is included. TBN on both. Blackstone Labs. I've had some oil leaking from the driver side head gasket. Fearing the typical EJ25 head gasket leakage problem, I was worried about...

    G-Oil 5w30, 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 5k

More iron than I'm comfortable with, but that could be the engine. For FAR oil it's OK. Based on the lower viscosity I lean towards this for my two 5-qt jugs: 1. A winter oil in my 5w-30 car 2. A warm weather oil in my 0w-20 car What do you think of those ideas?

My Tire Hyper-Inflation Story... What's Yours?

There is a hefty margin in max inflation pressure ratings. Immediately post the Firestone-Explorer blowout rollover case in the '90s, max inflation pressures were bumped up 10% on a wide range of Michelin truck tires. I remember getting a set with a now 110 psi max and was incredulous, as the...

    2002 Mazda protege any feedback?

Beware the very small oil sump. I was meticulous about oil changes and level, but somehow on a long, hot summer road trip, it got down a little more than a quart. With a 3 quart sump that is catastrophic. It was an oil burner after that, as much as a quart per 750, and usually a quart per 1000.

    Mobil Clean 5k, 5w-30, 5700 mi, '07 Subie Forester

Keep in mind this was nearly all highway miles. L.A to Denver to Phoenix to L.A. to Denver to L.A.

    Mobil Clean 5k, 5w-30, 5700 mi, '07 Subie Forester

I thought MC5K never went SN, being replaced by Super. Are you guys thinking they literally put the new formulation in some MC5K bottles during the swap over? I bought this at Walmart in late '10. This UOA was done about 6 weeks ago, and the oil was run from 'late 10 to early '11. With low wear...

    Mobil Clean 5k, 5w-30, 5700 mi, '07 Subie Forester

I ran Rotella T6 5w-40 before this. Does that explain the titanium? Miles were 90% highway. This was an API SM MC5K. 50-56k on the odo for this run. "Universal averages show typical wear for a Subaru 2.5L engine after about 4500 miles on the oil. Your oil was run for 5700 mile, and wear metals...
